Goshen police are investigating after an intoxicated man was treated for a shotgun wound early this morning.
Officers were already at the IU Health Goshen Facility on an unrelated matter when they were told by hospital personnel around 3:00 that the victim, Gerald Harvel, was in the ER with a serious neck injury.
Police said Harvel's injury was not life threatening, and appeared to be a cut; possibly caused by debris from a misfiring shotgun barrel.
He required a few stitches to close the wound.
Harvel didn't give a formal statement to police due to his ongoing treatment and level of intoxication.
The incident is under investigation.
