Man shot in the back several times in South Bend

South Bend, Ind. A 27-year-old man is recovering after being shot in the back three times early Saturday morning.

Police were called to the 1600 block of Longley Avenue in South Bend just before 5 a.m. where they found the victim on a porch asking for assistance.

He was able to tell police that the shooting actually happened in the 600 block of North LaPorte Avenue.

According to South Bend police, the victim said he was leaving a house on LaPorte when an unknown suspect fired shots at him.

That's when the victim took off running and ended up on Longley.

A woman that lives on Longley street says the man banged on her door and asked her to call the police.

Authorities took the victim to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, he could be released as early as Sunday.

The victim said he thinks robbery was the motive behind this shooting.

Police have a very basic description of the suspect -- and no arrests have been made.
