A South Bend man died 12 hours after he was hit by a minivan.

The crash happened Monday around 5 p.m. in the 500 block of S. Michigan St., near South Bend's main post office.

According to South Bend Police, Christine Martin, 18, of South Bend, was traveling northbound on S. Michigan St. when her car hit Homer Jennings, 69.

Jennings was taken to Memorial Hospital in critical condition with severe head injuries. He was immediately placed in the Intensive Care Unit, but his wounds proved too serious to overcome.
