Man grazed by bullet in South Bend neighborhood

A South Bend man is recovering in the hospital following a weekend neighborhood shooting.

Around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, a man in his 20s was shot in the foot by a gunman in a passing vehicle. The gunfire broke out in the 700 block of N. Brookfield St., on the city's near west side.

Officers tell NewsCenter 16 the victim, whose name has not been released, was lucky in that the bullet grazed his foot. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Police spent roughly an hour canvassing the neighborhood for the suspect vehicle - a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee. The SUV was never located, and no arrests have been made.
