Police are looking for a South Bend man accused of beating three puppies to death earlier this year.
Joseph Perry, 38, is facing two counts of mutilating an animal after the prosecutor's office filed charges against him this week.
Back in August, a South Bend animal control officer responded to a call from neighbors about excessive waste and a strong smell and made the horrible discovery.
He found three puppies that appeared to have been discarded between two garages behind a home on Ironwood.
Those who saw them said the dogs had broken bones, and had been left to decompose in the yard.
Perry told police that he was out of town when the puppies died, and had left them in the care of a friend, who he had not been able to contact since.
A warrant has been issued for Perry's arrest, and bond has been set at $500.
