The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office has filed murder charges in a decades-old cold case.
In September of 1988, 27-year-old Mark Murphy was shot and killed in the street outside the former Iceberg Lounge at Prairie and Indiana Avenues in South Bend.
At the time of the shooting, no witnesses came forward and no charges were filed.
Although police continued to conduct interviews over the years, investigators didn't make significant progress for some time.
Now, more than 24 years later, a suspect is behind bars, accused in Murphy's death.
Larry Guiden, 49, also known as Larry Washington, was charged with murder after several witnesses came forward to the county metro homicide unit with new details about the case.
Guiden is being held without bond at the St. Joseph County Jail.
