Man accused of attacking two people with shovel, in court

A man accused of attacking two people with a shovel and then stealing a car was in court Monday.

Daron Breveard, 18, is accused of hitting two people with a shovel back in October then fleeing and stealing a van in the 600 block of South Kenmore Street in St. Joseph County.

On Monday, he made a motion in court for continuance of the trial, which was granted.

Breveard has been charged with two counts of battery with a deadly weapon, a Class C felony, and one count of auto theft, a Class D felony.

His trial is set to begin April 22.
