One train has been cancelled and some are experiencing delays on Monday after mechanical failures on the South Shore line.

Westbound South Shore Train 116 has been cancelled due to significant wire damage near the East Chicago Station.

That wire damage has also cause delays for the following trains:
- Westbound Train 216 departed Gary Metro Station at 3:12 pm
- Westbound Train 18 departed Carroll Ave. approximately 1 ½ hours late
- Westbound Train 118 departed Carroll Ave. 10-15 min behind schedule

An extra eastbound train departed from the East Chicago Station at 2:39 pm to help with the delays.

South Shore officials expect all eastbound rush hour trains to depart Chicago on time, but there may be some delays along the route.

All trains are operating on Track 1 from the state line to Gary.
