Michigan State Police are releasing the identities of a husband and wife killed in an apparent murder-suicide Monday morning.
Around 6:15 a.m., police received a call saying the couple was fighting in the middle of John Beers Road in Royalton Township.
They believe 57-year-old David Tripp shot his wife, 42-year-old Delaina Tripp, during the altercation. David then ran to the back of their home and shot himself.
"Shocked, very shocked," said Denise Littleton, who works nearby. "It's sad. Very sad. That someone gets to that point in their life."
Police say after Delaina was shot, a car traveling westbound ran her over. The driver didn't stop, but part of the car's front fender was left behind.
"I heard what I thought was an animal getting run over by a car," said neighbor Leann Walton. "Come to find out, this is what happened."
Police are looking for a 1998 through 2002 Honda Accord. The color is unknown, but the vehicle has undercarriage damage.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Michigan State Police Niles Post at 269-683-4411.
Police say Monday morning wasn't the first time they'd been called to the couple's home.
"They have had some contact in the past, as far as police responding to the residence," confirmed Detective 1st Lt. Chuck Christensen. "I believe one of those was a domestic situation. However, no real violent past, from what we've discovered at this point."
