It's a new beginning for one south bend woman with a new home.

Thanks to Habitat for Humanity.

This afternoon family and friends celebrated the completion of another new home through the help of Habitat for Humanity.

Homeowner Serica Ellis said she's been given a second chance through habitat and is looking forward to raising her son in her new house.

Several area colleges and high schools helped with the build making her dream possible.

“I got accepted by Habitat as a partner about two and half years ago and that's about a little longer than the average, so it's been a long process and put it's been all worth it,” she said.

Adding, “It's just such a wonderful feeling right now to know my house is done, and in a month me and my son will be moving in,” she said.

Ellis has yet to officially move in yet since a few finishing touches need to be made.

Through Habitat's program homeowners can start making monthly mortgage payments until they pay off their interest free loan.
