A local truck driver is charged in a crash that killed four people in a construction zone Monday in Illinois.

Francisco Espinal-Quiroz, 51, from Leesburg was arrested Tuesday.

According to NBC Chicago, witnesses say he was speeding when he entered the construction zone on northbound I-55 in Elwood.

Traffic was stalled, and Espinal-Quiroz slammed into the back of a car, causing a chain reaction crash involving three vehicles and another tractor-trailer.

Four people died, including an 11-year-old child.

Four others were injured.

Espinal-Quiroz was charged for failing to reduce speed and for falsifying his log book.
