Local restaurants serve up benefits aside from nutrition

Local franchises of two major restaurant chains host events Thursday that allow the benefits of eating to extend beyond nutrition.

From 6p.m. – 9p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 10 percent of all sales at the Eddy Street Commons Five Guys will be donated St. Margaret's House in South Bend.

St. Margaret's provides food, care and support for women around the community.

Also Thursday, the South Bend fire department is teaming up with Domino's Pizza to promote fire safety for Fire Prevention Week.

Thursday from 3p.m. – 6p.m., South Bend firemen will be at the Domino's at 1627 S. Edison Road, checking fire alarms, teaching them how to use them and even some alarms away to households that don’t have them.

South Bend Fire will also have an engine outside for some photo opportunities with the kids. Plus Domino's will give pizza slices to anyone who comes out for the demonstration.
