It's that time of the year again. Summer vacation ends and the school year starts.
With that is the back to school shopping, but in South Bend the beginning of the school also means free hair cuts.
On Monday, kids were able to get their haircut in the “Hair Kutz 4 Kids" event at the Monroe Circle Community Center.
This is the 8th year for the event.
It's all about building confidence for the kids as they start a new school year.
But this couldn't be done without the support from the community and local barber shops and salons.
"You have a number of barber shops and salons representing as well and collectively they have come together and to work making sure our kids in our community go back to school and do well,” said Henry Davis, Jr., city councilman.
These free hair cuts are just in time as Mishawaka students go back to school on Tuesday.
South Bend and Penn students have their first days on Wednesday.
