Friday morning a group of Lakeville Community members made it their mission to spread some holiday cheer.
Beginning at 8 a.m., the Lakeville Lions Club started preparations for its 10th Annual Toys for Tots Blitz Day. Volunteers met at the Newton Center, where they packed food baskets for the needy.
They also collected toys for less-fortunate children in the Lakeville, La Paz, and Bremen areas.
"This year we are helping 70 families, and we are going to have 155 children that we are distributing toys to this year,” says Vic Fischer Chairman of the Lakeville Lions Club Toys for Tots & Food Drive. “We have probably, at least 70 food boxes, and over 1400 toys we will be handing out."
Blitz Day officially begins Saturday morning at Dave's Garage in Lakeville from 7:30 until noon.
Lion's Club Members and local volunteers plan on distributing the food items, clothing, and toys that they've collected over the last year.
