Lakeshore H.S. band drum major presents medal to WWII veteran

Normandy, France This week we have been following the Lakeshore High School Band of Stevensville.

They're in Normandy, France to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion on Friday.

Thursday morning they posted more photos to their Tumblr blog, including this one of drum major Jordan Young presenting a medal to a WWII Veteran.

On Thursday, the band is scheduled to honor fallen Michigan soldiers. That is when they will pour sand from home on their grave sites.

On Friday, the band will march in the official D-Day Memorial Parade at Sainte-Mere-Eglise. That was the first village to be liberated by American paratroopers. You can find a lot more information about the parade and the history of the D-Day invasion here.

NBC News also took a look back at footage from that day in 1944. You can find that here.
