LA PORTE COUNTY Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Monday, deputies from the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office were summoned to a residence in the 7200 west block of County Road 125 North to investigate a potential domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival deputies located what appeared to be homemade explosive devices in the home.
The female victim was removed from the home and the La Porte County Emergency Response Team (ERT) was activated and responded to the home.
The Porter County Regional Bomb Squad and agents from the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATF) also responded to the scene.
A search warrant was obtained from La Porte County Superior Court III and the Emergency Response Team made entry into the home and discovered that the male had fled the scene.
Attempts were made to locate him but were unsuccessful.
He has been identified as 54 year old Robert L. Ofcky.
Police say he may be driving an unknown year gold colored Ford F150 pickup truck, and it is likely that he fled the area prior to the arrival of deputies.
Investigators remained at the home until approximately 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning as they cleared the home of any potential explosives.
Anyone with information regarding the location of Robert Ofcky is asked to call Detective Sergeant Kevin Ulam at (219) 326-7700 ext. 2556.
