A Kendallville man was arrested on Thursday afternoon. He faces a preliminary charge of leaving the scene of a accident and reckless homicide.
Police say 36-year-old Zane Scott was arrested when they did an area sweep of the local Topeka factories and found a vehicle matching the description of what a witness saw at the fatal crash.
Police were called out to a traffic crash involving a bicycle in the Topeka area.
The bicycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses told police that a blue van drove away quickly after the crash and did not stop to help the victim. Police later matched the blue van to the driver at his job in Topeka, where he was arrested.
