Investigators still don't know the cause of a fire that destroyed two apartments on Union Street in Elkhart.
That's according to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth.
It happened in the 300 block of Union Street just before 7 a.m. last Tuesday. A gas can was found near a rear apartment on the first floor, and investigators determined the living room of that apartment was where the fire started.
They also found a backpack which witnesses say was thrown behind a dumpster by a man running from the scene, but they are still looking into the exact cause.
Two people were injured in the fire.
