WARSAW, Ind.--- Initial information submitted by both Zimmer and Biomet as part of their merger has been deemed 'incomplete.'

According to Stacey Page Online, on June 11 the European Commission notified both Zimmer and Biomet that their initial notification of the merger was incomplete and required more information.

Zimmer is presently working with the commission to submit all of the required information.

Zimmer is expecting the $13.35 billion merger to be complete by the first quarter of 2015.

The commission stated that because of the incomplete information a decision deadline of July 9 has been thrown out, and that the commission will set a new deadline upon receipt of all required information.

The merger between the Warsaw, Ind. based companies will make the new company the second largest orthopedic company behind Johnson and Johnson and its DePuy Synthes business.
