Indiana releases new vaccine requirements for next school year
Indiana's Department of Health has released immunization requirements for anyone going to school next year, and there are some new ones on the list.
Starting this fall, all students K-12 will be required to get both doses of the chicken pox vaccine, unless they can prove they’ve had the chicken pox disease before. For students grades K-5, a healthcare provider must validate that the child has had the pox.
The department of health also recommends that kindergarten sutdents have two doses of the hepatitis A vaccine.
11th and 12th graders should have a booster dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine. That's to prevent a bacterial disease that can prove fatal.
