Whether it is old paychecks, inactive bank accounts or insurance proceeds, there is money out there that could be yours, and it's just a few mouse clicks away.
Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller stopped by Ivy Tech Community College in Goshen Thursday to discuss the state's unclaimed property program, and show people how to search for and claim what's rightfully theirs.
Residents in North Central Indiana have nearly $25.6 million that have been forgotten more than half of which comes from St. Joseph County alone.
Zoeller also introduced "Buck the Money Dog," their mascot who will be traveling across the state, helping them reunite Hoosiers with money they may have never known existed.
“It's from old bank accounts, your last pay check, a lot of students that went to school and had a security deposit or some type of utility deposit, all of those show up,” says Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller. Things that people never even realized they had. So the more people are mobile, the more likelihood that there is money that they have left from their last address.”
Zoeller encourages folks to visit their website and search for their name.
