INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--- Investigators say schemes to file taxes under false identities in Indiana tried to claim millions of dollars.

Over the last two months the Indiana Department of Revenue says it's halted fraudulent returns worth more than $2.8 million.

Officials say this year's new security features helped the effort, including an identity confirmation quiz for select taxpayers.

Though the special investigations unit stopped about 1500 false returns, there's still work to be done following leads to prosecute the thieves behind them.
