Ind. senator seeks to decriminalize Marijuana

An Indiana state lawmaker wants to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana and is going to include language for it in legislation to overhaul Indiana’s criminal code.

State senator Brent Steele says the marijuana possession laws the state has now are too harsh.

He does not support legalizing the drug, but he wants to make possession of less than 10 grams of it, a civil infraction. The penalty for someone caught with that would then be to pay a fine.
