Two ice fishermen fell through the ice on Paw Paw Lake on Sunday and had to be pulled ashore by police.

The Herald Palladium reports that rescuers responded around 5 o'clock with their hovercraft, and volunteers prepared to jump in the water in neoprene "gumby suits."

Fortunately it wasn't necessary. Both men were pulled from the water quickly and taken to the hospital to be monitored for hypothermia.

Coloma Township police identified the men as Ivan Simpkins, 43, and Matthew Simpkins, 25, both of Watervliet. The rescue was staged by township and Watervliet police
