Hundreds gather for March for Babies at The Cove

Hundreds of people laced up their sneakers Saturday morning to give hope to the more than half-a-million babies born too soon every year.

The March of Dimes held its annual March For Babies Saturday at Coveleski Stadium.

The three mile walk raises money for premature babies to get them the help they need to survive.

All money collected supports programs in our community that help moms have healthy full-term pregnancies.

It's an important cause that our local ambassador family is unfortunately all too familiar with.

Chad and Ginny Vanderbeek are an Ambassador Family and say Saturday’s event was personal for them.

“We had lost three babies. We lost one baby at 33 weeks, and then we lost twins at 20 weeks, and now we have a three-month old healthy baby that was full-term. We had two choices to make in our life. We decided to take our negative and turn it into a positive, and i think that's really helped not only us but our family and friends," they said.

The Vanderbeeks hope their story will serve as a positive inspiration to others who may have lost hope.

The family raised ten-thousand dollars for today's event.
