Volunteers at Hope Ministires have spent the last 24-hours preparing to feed a Thanksgiving feast hundreds of Michiana residents struggling to get by.
Volunteers gathered yesterday to begin preparring the feast. Today they expect to serve around 300 people at their South Bend location on Michigan Street. They also will deliver around 600 meals to people's homes today.
Volunteers say the long hours are worth it once they meet the people they are hoping.
"It's really fun and enjoyable to watch the people's expressions and see how grateful they are and it just warms the heart," volunteer Treva Yoder said.
Hope Ministries has been offering free meals to families in St. Joseph Country since 1954. They serve roughly 8,000 meals to Michiana residents each month.
