LaPorte County Your help is needed to track down a missing sex offender.

James W. Adams, 31, is currently wanted by the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office for failure to register as a sex offender.

In 2000, Adams was convicted in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin of 3rd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child. He was convicted again in 2001, of 2nd Degree of Sexual Assault of a Child. Based on these convictions, Adams is required to identify as an Offender Against Children for the rest of his life.

Adams first registered in LaPorte County back in 2009. In October of last year, Adams notified police that he was homeless. A nationwide inquiry has been made and Adams has not registered with any other law enforcement agency. Previous reports had him living in the Michigan City area.

Adams is 5’11” tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has short black hair and brown eyes. He also has a tattoo of a panther on his upper right arm and etched on his lower right forearm are the words, “Mama’s Boy.”

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Adams should contact Major John Boyd at 219-326-7700 or their local police department.
