A former elected official who was accused of public corruption returned to the courtroom on Friday.

Susan Hammons, 61, was charged back in January for crimes committed while she served as the clerk-treasurer for the town of Roseland.

She was accused of using the town’s money to pay her rent during a two month period in 2009. Hammons, who has since resigned, pleaded guilty back in August to two felony counts of theft but not to a third felony charge of official misconduct.

In court Friday, her previous guilty pleas were rejected so the state could move ahead with all three counts.

Hammons’ next court date is set for November 22.
