Gun found in river may be linked to bar homicide

A gun pulled from the St. Joseph River Wednesday morning may be linked to last weekend's deadly shooting outside a South Bend Bar.

Acting on a tip, police divers searched the river and found the weapon in the water between the Sample Street and Eddy Street bridges near the South Bend Farmer's Market.

Captain Phil Trent says a ballistics exam will be needed to specifically link the weapon to the case so it can be used as evidence.

The DJ's cousin, Ramon Deleon, 24, has been charged with voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of Cesar Flores, 32.

A relative of the bar patron, James Garcia Jr., 30, has been charged with criminal recklessness for allegedly firing a shotgun blast that hit the disc jockey, Dimas Deleon, 40.
