It's a chance to give a special gift to someone, and help give back to the City of South Bend. It's called the Grow Downtown flower program that DTSB is starting.
People can buy flowers that will be maintained and placed through the Downtown area.
You can pick a hanging flower basket or planting bowl that can be given as a gift, and personalized with a plaque. The program aims to double the number flowers in Downtown.
“There's studies that show that people are more willing to spend up to 30 percent more revenue at places that are well manicured so there are a lot of things beyond beautification efforts this has some real economic impact,” says the DTSB executive director Aaron Perri.
The flowers will be installed by mid-May and fall plantings will last until late November. DTSB ambassadors will maintain the flowers.
