Granger woman in court Thursday after being accused of killing her baby

St. Joseph County, Ind. A Granger woman accused of killing her newborn baby was back in court Thursday for a plea deadline.

Purvi Patel, 32, allegedly tossed the infant's body into a dumpster outside her family's restaurant in July. She faces a class a felony charge of neglect of a dependent causing death.

She entered a not guilty plea during her July court appearance. Her attorney told the judge she would not be pleading to anything Thursday. So her trial date has been moved to February 10.

The attorney has also requested that a GPS be removed from Patel's ankle but the judge said that remains under consideration.
