More than 400 students from St. Joseph Grade School will march through South Bend, from the school to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

They will carry donations to the charitable organization as part of a Lenten service project. It's called "The Walk for Eric's Promise," honoring Eric Henry, who on Ash Wednesday back in 2002, made a promise to be more giving.

Eric was a senior at Marian High School in Mishawaka. He died in a car accident the next day.

Eric's Promise began at his memorial mass when the Marian High School students presented hundreds of donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

St. Joseph grade school has taken part in the donation program ever since.
