UPDATE: Name of Goshen shooting victim released

Police are investigating a shooting in Goshen after a man was found shot behind his home.

Officers were called to the 1300 block of W. Clinton St. around 6:12 p.m. Friday. There they found Michael Edwards, 44, lying on the ground with four gunshot wounds. Goshen paramedics transported Edwards to Grace Community Church where he was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. According to a Saturday morning media release, Edwards remains in the hospital where he is expected to recover.

According to detectives, Edwards was standing in his yard when a young black man, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, approached him. Police believe it was an attempted robbery.

The shooting suspect ran away on foot before officers arrived. His identity is not known. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Goshen Police Department at (574) 533-4151.
