The coroner has ruled that Sunday's fatal train crash in Goshen was a suicide.

It happened around 8 p.m. on River Avenue near the Oak Ridge Cemetery just north of town.

The train was traveling 50 miles per hour when it struck and killed 39-year-old Thomas Griffis of New Paris.

The train was stopped for over two and a half hours while emergency personnel conducted an investigation.

Investigators believe Griffis was under the influence of alcohol.
