Girl Scouts kick off cookie campaign

South Bend, Ind. You may have a Girl Scout knocking on your door Friday, asking if you'd like to buy cookies.

That's because their annual campaign kicks off.

As always, you can purchase some of the favorites like Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties or Caramel deLites but they also have some of their newer flavors like Lemonades, Thanks a Lots, as well as a new cookie, Cranberry Citrus Crisps.

We spoke to Jill LaFountain, director of advancement for the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michigan, on Thursday. She says the cookie campaign helps them keep the program going for girls across Michiana and the country.

"This program teaches girls five skills (goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics). But its also about learning those entrepreneurial skills too," LaFountain said.
