February is often seen as the month of Valentine’s Day and love, but the medical professionals at Lakeland Healthcare want people to pay attention to more than just the affairs of the heart.
On Saturday morning, Lakeland Healthcare held its “Love your heart” health fair, hoping to get people involved in exercise and nutrition to prevent heart problems down the road.
Between the fitness classes and blood pressure screenings, the event at Orchards Mall was jam-packed.
Organizers say they want to instill a healthy mentality in people of all ages.
According to Ashlee Nason, a health educator, “A lot of it is just to emphasize is that heart disease that it’s never too early to start educating people about heart disease. We’re hoping to get those kids out here. It’s all about forming those healthy habits. It’s never fun to wake up at 50 or 60 years old and have some real problems.”
Lakeland is offering more classes through the month for anyone interested in leading a healthier lifestyle.
