Police are searching for an armed robber who held up a gas station Friday afternoon in Kosciusko County.

It happened just before 1:30 at the Leesburg Freedom Express gas station in the 200 block of North Main Street.

Police were called to the scene after a clerk called 911 to report that she had just been robbed at knife-point.

Witnesses said the suspect filled his gas tank and entered the store to get some groceries.

While inside, the man said his wife had just been to a doctor's appointment yesterday for her pregnancy, and then went up to the clerk, pulled out a knife and demanded money.

He got away with some cash, and took off in what witnesses described as a tan colored mini-van.

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid to late 20's between 5”6 and 5”8 and approximately 120 to 130 pounds.

He had a thin build and short, blonde hair that was spiked on top.

The person sitting in the front seat of the getaway vehicle was described as a white woman with short, brown curly hair.

There were also two children inside the van.

One of them possibly a 4 to 6-year-old girl with blonde hair.

Anyone with information should call police at 267-5667 or the anonymous tip line at 372-2494.
