South Bend, Ind. Hundreds of people came out for a special Fridays by the Fountain on Independence Day.

The Pat Heiden Quartet was the main music attraction -- featuring big band, swing, Dixieland, polka and patriotic music to celebrate the Fourth of July.

"We were betting with my staff here today whether or not we would have people here," said Dennis Andres, Exec. Director of Morris Performing Arts Center, who counted at least 200 hundred spectators at the start of the show. "This is kind of fun for July 4th downtown!"

The Morris's fountain was also up and running for the first time this season.

"We had five Fridays before that without water, so I'm a happy camper," Andres said.

Next Friday, July 11 will feature Top Secret, a four-piece classic rock group based in South Bend.
