A former Edwardsburg cop has pleaded no contest to a charge of home invasion.
Jesse Holmes, 23, was in uniform and on duty last Christmas Day when he assisted on a medical call at a private residence. Prosecutors say Holmes went inside the home and removed painkillers.
Holmes had only been employed with the Edwardsburg Police for about six months. He was fired two days after the incident.
The terms of his plea agreement call for a felony firearm charge, and a larceny charge to be dropped.
Holmes will be sentenced later this month. The home invasion charge carries a maximum of 20 years in prison.
