Forest River buys Utilimaster site in Wakarusa

Recent news brings relief to the small town of Wakarusa.

Although their biggest employer, Utilimaster, will soon be leaving, a new employer will be moving in.

Forest River announced they've bought the Utilimaster site.

In June Utilimaster is set to move to Bristol, keeping its operation under one roof. Since it's the town's biggest employer, there were worries about what would happen with all of the vacant buildings.

Now Forest River bought the 16 buildings and plans to use them for their projects. It’s welcome news for folks in Wakarusa who are happy to see jobs and businesses stay in the area.

“In turn the people that were leaving here from Utilimaster, they will continue to shop here, they use the gas station, they use the restaurants,” says Wakarusa town manager Jeff Troxel. “It affects our business, so with this and possible additions with Forest River, I think that's going to be great for businesses here in Wakarusa.”

Forest River has half a year to decide what they want to do with the plant.

So far it’s only known that one line Prime Time RV will move in.
