Unfortunately, in today's world, many families go without essential needs such as nourishment.
However, two local organizations made it their objective to battle this hunger concern by joining forces.
Thursday morning the Food Bank of Northern Indiana announced that it will enter into a partnering distribution organization -- or PDO -- relationship with Church Community Services of Elkhart.
The PDO partnership will allow the food bank to increase local and regional awareness that hunger is a community health issue.
In addition, it will help them provide food to more than 26,000 poverty-stricken individuals in Elkhart County.
"All the hungry people in this county will no longer have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, because we formed this partnership to make it efficient, to make it effective, and to make it a tremendous, dignified experience for all the needy people right here in Elkhart," said Milt Lee, Executive Director, at the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.
Beginning in 2013, the organizations will work closely with one another to distribute food to local residents and create a more abundant supply for those facing hunger in our community.
