With the recent rain and the warm temperatures melting the snow, the National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for certain areas in Michiana.

Folks in Fulton, Kosciusko, Marshall, Pulaski and Starke Counties may be affected by flooding from the Tippecanoe River.

Upon last measurement, the Tippecanoe River was at 13.2 feet and rising. That's above the level of 12 feet that's considered flood stage. The weather service is hoping the Tippecanoe will crest no higher than 13.4 feet early Monday morning, before it starts falling again.

At last measurement, the Kankakee River was approaching flood stage. It stood at 10.2 feet at 9 p.m. Saturday. Flood stage is considered 11 feet. The Kankakee is expected to crest at 11.1 feet Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service cautions drivers to be aware of high water.
