The five men charged in connection with a home invasion in South Bend last week made their first court appearance on Monday.
A closed circuit television brought the suspects to their appearance where a preliminary plea of not guilty was entered on their behalf. All five of the suspects were told to return to court on Jan. 14, 2013 where they will each appear before the same judge.
At around 9:40 p.m. on Dec. 27, the men allegedly broke into a home in the 1000 block of North Michigan St., in an attempt to rob the occupants.
St. Joseph County Metro Homicide has been investigating the crime, four people in the home at the time of the invasion suffered knife wounds. Two of the victims were seriously injured after sustaining knife wounds to the neck area.
