Fireworks may be to blame for a fire at a vacant home in South Bend on Friday.

Around 1:30 pm, crews were called to the 54000 block of Terrace Lane. When they arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the roof and eves.

The fire was quickly put out and is believed to have started on the roof of the house.

Neighbors say there were several firework displays going on in the area, and that is believed to be the cause of the blaze.

However, the fire is still under investigation.

Fire crews are reminding residents to stay far enough away from surrounding homes, buildings and dry grass when shooting off fireworks.
