Friends and family gathered Saturday to remember a 23-year-old woman who lost her life in a car crash, and they did it at a place they say was like her second home.

Before, Heather Baker could be found for times per week at Chippewa Bowl. On Saturday, he photos lined the walls, and instead of scores, each bowling monitor displayed her name.

Baker was kept in a medically-induced coma after suffering severe head injuries in a crash earlier this month, and died just days later.

Her friends and family hope seeing her smiling face all over the alley helped people cope with the loss.

“To see the tears, it was tears of joy and remembering, not so much the sorrow,” said Travis Ruthruff, who helped organize the event. “We're always going to have that. I honestly don't think we'll ever get over it. A good friend of mine told me we'll learn to live with it.

“There’s not a day that goes by my wife and I don’t cry. But not a day goes by that we don’t laugh and celebrate her.”

Funds from the bowling tournament and games will go to the Baker family to help offset medical and funeral costs.
