The family of a Waseca man who disappeared while flying to Mali as part of missionary work is appealing to Congress and military leaders to help search for him.

WTHR in Indianapolis reports Jerry Krause's last radio contact was with a small island airport April 7 while flying from South Africa to Mali. The airport lost contact with him during a power outage and could not re-establish it.

Krause's family has launched a Facebook page titled "Find Jerry" to generate national interest in his plight.

Friend Beth White says only the military has the equipment needed to detect the beacon from a plane in deep water. She says the signal only lasts 30 days, so time is of the essence.

No wreckage from the plane has been found.
