It's been more than 8 months since a 7-year-old Elkhart girl was shot and killed during a home invasion. Monday, her family celebrates what would have been her 8th birthday.

The Elkhart Truth reports that Kristyana Jackson's parents, Kimi and John, will take cupcakes to Mary Daly Elementary in her name.

Kristyana Jackson was shot in the head back in August, and her father was shot in the arm when three armed men tried to enter the family's house on Elkhart's west side.

Police have been searching for the people responsible ever since, but no arrests have been made. Michiana Crime Stoppers is offering a $6,000 reward in the case. Anonymous tips can be shared by calling (574) 288-STOP or (800) 342-STOP.
