An expansion at the Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo will be opening with a big splash in the next couple of weeks.
Rod Stewart will set the stage at the new entertainment center plus a Hard Rock Café will soon open after Stewart’s performance.
Friday the hotel opened to the public. It will double in size, adding more than twice as many rooms.
It's a much needed addition considering the hotel has been sold out since the casino opened five years ago. Now there will be 415 rooms.
This past week members of the tribe could stay at the hotel before it opened to the public.
“I was interested in seeing what the original hotel looked like and with the addition it was that much more attractive,” says tribe member Andrea Topash-Rios.
The entertainment center, Silver Creek Event Center, can seat 15-hundred people.
Stewart will set the stage with the first performance on July 7th. Tickets sold out in 17 minutes.
Then on July 11th Hard Rock Café opens featuring items hanging on the wall from artists like Michael Jackson, Madonna and Katy Perry.
Four Winds Casino General Manager Matt Harkness says, “Opening up the hotel, and the events, and the Hard Rock all in the same month, it’s just really really exciting.”
Keep in mind the Pokagon Band already opened another casino in Hartford, Michigan.
Soon it will break ground on a third casino in Dowagiac. The New Buffalo location is by far their largest. Four hundred more people have been hired due to the expansion.
