Enshrinement Week for the College Football Hall of Fame kicked off in South Bend. There will be no parade this year, but there was a special opening Monday morning.
At 11 a.m., hall officials and Mayor Pete Buttigieg unveiled a sign temporarily renaming Michigan St. in front of the hall to "Hall of Fame Boulevard."
The parade is one of several events traditionally associated with the Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival that have been sidelined this year. The list also includes the youth football clinic, an autograph session, and the enshrinee's flag football game.
This year's class includes Deion Sanders, Eddie George and coach Llyod Carr.
Weekend events include the ribs cook-off and downtown block party. A pep rally on the Gridiron begins at 7:15 p.m.
The Enshrinement reception, silent auction and dinner is being held on Saturday.
