Elkhart woman arrested on preliminary charge of making meth

Police arrested a woman at an Elkhart hotel room on a preliminary charge of making meth.

According to our reporting partner, Elkhart Truth, police went to the Residential Inn on Saturday after finding a key to a room there, while searching a man who tried to escape after a traffic stop on Saturday.

A woman named Nichole Papet was in the room. Police found meth along with items used to make the drug inside. Papet denied making the meth.

There was also another woman inside who was arrested on a preliminary charge of visiting a common nuisance. Formal charges have not been filed against either of them.
